Purple Line (D Line) Subway Extension Project, Since 2010
County of Los Angeles – Purple Line Subway Extension Project
Being the biggest public works project in the West Coast, at a budget of $9 billion, the Metro Purple Line (D Line) Extension Transit Project is a critical link in the Los Angeles County (LA) transit network serving the westside cities with seven new stations and over 9 miles of tunnels. This will provide a safe, reliable, and affordable high-speed connection between downtown Los Angeles and one of LA’s busiest areas, the Westside, which are the two largest job centers in LA. transportation. This is also one of the “28 for 28” high-profile projects funded by METRO and the Federal government for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
Wilshire Boulevard Bus Rapid Transit
ADVANTEC as a member of the PSOMAS project design team, prepared plans, specifications and engineer’s estimates for signing, striping and traffic signal modifications along the project corridors. The limits of the project were Western Avenue to San Vicente Boulevard (3.6 miles) and San Vicente Boulevard/Federal Avenue to Barrington Avenue (0.15 miles). Work encompassed thirty-three signalized intersections along Wilshire Boulevard, 3 ¾ miles of signing and striping on a major arterial highway and project coordination with Los Angeles Department of Transportation, Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering and the METRO Westside Subway design team. The plans were designed to include new 2070 traffic signal controllers and the installation of special loop detectors (Metro loop detectors) for Metro’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System.
